Our History
The Friends of the Campbell County, TN Animals (FCCA) non-profit organization was formed in October 2012, for the purpose of improving the lives of companion animals throughout Campbell County.
At that time, the municipal animal shelter had a very high euthanasia rate; approximately 97%. One of the main goals of FCCA was to change this reality and we set about doing that in a variety of ways:
Due in large part to the effectiveness and popularity of the FCCA within the community, Campbell County officially relinquished the management and daily operation of the animal shelter to us in July of 2015. Two years later, we voluntarily accepted the responsibility of animal control within the county, vowing to improve all aspects of animal welfare in Campbell County.
From the time of the organization’s inception, the members of FCCA have worked tirelessly toward meeting the objectives outlined in our Mission Statement. What started as a goal of 100 spay/neuter surgeries per month has now grown to over 120 surgeries a month and the possibility implementing a permanent low-cost clinic in our animal shelter! Your donations help make it possible!
Our current facility, the Campbell County Animal Shelter, is equipped with 20 adult canine runs as well as an additional 12 puppy kennels. For felines, we have 29 adult/kitten kennels and a recently added enclosed, outdoor “catio”. We rely on grants, volunteers and donations to for all of our operations and we are continuously hoping to grow!

- Reduce animal homelessness through low cost spay/neuter
- Keep animals in their homes by creating a community food bank to help pet owners
- Increase adoptions through community events and partnerships with pet stores
- Create strong bonds with animal rescue organizations so that animals housed at the shelter might have greater opportunities to find committed and loving homes.
