Kennel Attendant

$8/hour

DESCRIPTION
The Kennel Attendant/ Animal Care Taker position is responsible for the daily care of our shelter animals by providing food, water and a clean environment. Additionally, providing customer service to the public seeking to adopt, surrender or looking for lost animals.

JOB DUTIES 
  • Daily cleaning of animal areas 
  • Feeding
  • Monitoring animal health
  • Assisting with restraint for medical procedures
  • Giving vaccinations, drawing blood for tests, cleaning ears, administering occasional medications
  • Assorted daily cleaning tasks
  • Talking to the public and assisting them in finding the right pet for their family​

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma required, some further education preferred 
  • Valid TN Driver’s License; clean driving record
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Basic computer knowledge 
  • Must have a flexible schedule 
  • Able to work independently as well as be a team player
  • Excellent customer service skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Environment can be dirty, wet and humid
  • Exposure to unpleasant odors, loud noises and chemicals 
  • Work requires restraining, lifting, and carrying animals and cages
  • Exposure to pests such as fleas and ticks
  • Possibility of being bitten or scratched
  • Job requires standing for long periods of time, bending, squatting, reaching, and heavy lifting

HOURS
Applicants should have availability during most days between 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
